Peters Township Senior Portraits

February 4, 2010

Katie was another one of my 2009 reps. I went to High School with Katie’s brother (who is also my birthday buddy: ), Doug ( Contact Doug if you need direction on investments, insurance, he’s a great “go to” guy).

I was extremely excited when I arrived at the property she chose for her shoot…I think we could have done a million things there, which is why I ended up with a great variety of shots.  Here are her images. Enjoy!

Who said senior portraits can’t have a unique crop? I wanted to do this shot to highlight her gorgeous eyes.

one of my FAVS!

little side note about this last image…I wish there was a hidden camera on us to document our reactions to what happened right after this image was shot. Well…since it wasn’t documented, I’ll tell you about it (I know, you didn’t think I was going to offer to tell the story did you? But…)

K. So I got this shot, then Katie stood up. We were standing there in the *tall grass* that had been all *smooshed down*. As we were talking about the next shots, I thought I felt something move a little underneath the grass where my foot was planted. I stood still for a second to see if I felt anything move again. When I didn’t feel anything, I, being the genius that I am, thought I’d put just a *VERY* slight pressure down on where my foot was to see if something moved.

I definitely felt something move.

The next 30 seconds was like TOTAL SLOW MO! So, I slowly turn my head to the left, look down, and see a dark, little, pointed head sticking out of the grass. (This is where my brain froze).

I could feel my brain processing:

Hmm.

Yep.

Something moved.

Oh.

There it is.

It’s dark.

Little.

Pointy Head.

Oh, it’s a chipmunk.

No Dana.

You’re an idiot.

That’s a.

Black Snake.

(****insert SCREAMING Bloody Murder and running the most GIRLY BOLT! I’ve ever made***)

Then hyperventilation followed by uncontrollable laughter and disbelief….

You’re probably thinking…”disbelief? that’s a little melodramatic.” Well, yeah, but I can’t tell a story without melodrama. Disbelief . Because I never thought I could sound and act SO GIRLIE! All my life I’ve been a “tomboy” and totally “tough” when it comes to spiders, and snakes (kind of…), but I never thought I was capable of such a reaction.

Now I know.

So back to WHY I wish it was recorded. Two reasons:

1. That was a “you had to be there” story.

2. Katie and I could have probably won a lot of money on AFV!

I’d love to hear any funny stories you have…so, comment away! 🙂

Just found this comical when on an engagement shoot with Brad and Jamie…(more to come on that shoot soon).

just had to share this awesome video

January 15, 2010

Jessica Claire has become some what of a “celebrity” photographer among us wedding photographers. I don’t know her personally, but she is very personable, down to earth, and seems very genuine. She recently got married and of course, it was incredible…BRIDES: take note if you’re looking for creative ideas to set your wedding a part or want to set a special mood for your wedding.  Jessica has great attention to detail, which always gives your photographer even more  ways to capture the mood and memories of your special day.  Enjoy this incredible video by Elysium Productions

Courtney & Travis {Destination Wedding Pittsburgh Photographer}

December 3, 2009

Bet you’ll never guess where this location is…go on…try to guess (you can peak below for the answer…:-)

Courtney is a college friend of mine. Our most memorable moment would probably dancing in ONU Star Search and the hours we spent perfecting our Moon Walk for the competition. lol.  Fast Forward a little…I knew OF Travis, but didn’t have the opportunity to meet him until August when we did their Engagement Session (another one of those awesome blogs I have yet to have time to blog). I could go on and on about how awesome of a couple they are AND how awesome they are as individuals.  Courtney and Travis both have solid relationships with the Lord, which is reflected in their relationship with each other. Their ceremony was one of the most sacred and beautiful ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed-lots of happy tears, smiles, and laughter. It was, seriously, like a movie when the doors were opened for Courtney to walk down and the expression on Travis’s face was priceless! I’m still in awe of the moment. I’m excited to describe it in more detail when I post more images from the entire day. Courtney and Travis are truly a great example of  a Godly relationship, and I admire the example they set for their family, friends, and me. Courtney and Travis, I’m so grateful and blessed to have been a witness to your day of celebration together. Thank you so much for allowing me to capture it all! Lots of Love, Dana

(more images to come from this wedding in the new year, but here are a couple to give a VERY small taste of how ROCKIN’ these images turned out–thanks to some great and willing subjects-hehe.)

Jennifer & Michael- Pittsburgh Wedding Photography

December 2, 2009

Michael Williams is a peer photographer of mine. He second shot with me a couple times this year. He’s a talented photographer and a hard worker. I will not be shooting his wedding but I had the pleasure of meeting his fiancĂ©, Jennifer, and doing an engagement session with them. Jennifer is so cute and sweet and Michael, well…Jen and I shared some amusement at how “into” the location scouting Michael was. All in all it was a great night with lots of fun shots on Pittsburgh’s North Shore and around the Strip District. Here are a couple sneak previews. Jennifer and Michael, I pray that God will bless your relationship and marriage (and your own little family some day too!:) More on their story and shots from the shoot at a later date!
