I’ll blog more of these down the road, but here is a sneak peak of Angelina and Ryan’s wedding. There are SOOOO many awesome shots (thanks to some super awesome subjects;). Ah! I’m so freakin’ excited to share…Big thanks to Michael Williams of MichaelWill Photography. He was my second shooter and we had a BLAST! I really enjoyed shooting with Michael; he’s very talented and has lots of fun with his work. Angelina and Ryan, hope you enjoyed your honeymoon (totally envious btw!:). Enjoy these while I continue and finish working on your wedding images!

Lauren~Thomas Jefferson High School Senior Portraits

October 14, 2009

Two quick images from my shoot with Miss Lauren on Tuesday. Seriously, I did NOTHING to her skin! Just wait until I get to post more images. Lauren has the most beautiful porcelain skin, and the best personality and a great spirit about her. We had a blast with her shoot because she came full of ideas AND was willing to be creative trying anything.  Lauren has the sweetest personality and I’m so happy that our mom’s work together because otherwise I may not have met her. Enjoy these images. I found it easy to capture her natural beauty. Good Luck Lauren! I know you’ll be successful in your future!

Brittany & Josh

August 26, 2009

I’ve noticed a trend among my Bride and Groom clients. Totally sweet, fun, down to earth, and GENUINE! In fact, I think I’ve used those words to describe some of my couples on the blog. Well, what else can I say when it’s so true and I feel like the luckiest photographer ever! Brittany and Josh are no exception to this theme of great couples I’ve had this summer.

I met Brittany & Josh last year at the Panera in Washington and left thinking we’d make a great vendor-client fit (if you know me or have met with me about photography, this is something that I think is very important for both vendor and client). I was very excited when I got the news that they wanted to hire me as their photographer.  We immediately began brainstorming ideas for a Fall Engagement Session.  We met up in Canonsburg and I rode with them to the beautiful, Schenley Park. I also brought an old trunk to use as a prop. Sometimes I come up with some strange ideas or props and I don’t always know exactly what I’m going to do with it or if it will work, but fortunately Brittany & Josh were willing to try something different and have fun with it.  My philosophy is, “If I tried it and it worked, I won’t have any regrets. If I tried it and it was, ‘FAIL,’ I can always look back and laugh at my ‘dorkiness’.” ANYWAY, back to the story… That fall day, we ended up with some really awesome shots and the trunk provided for some fun. I’ll have to add an e-session image to this post later.

Now let me just share what I’ve been excited to share about Brittany & Josh and their wedding.  They MADE almost all the details for their wedding. As I go, I’ll tell you all the DIYs then post a picture.  It’s too clever not to share with those looking for creative DIYs AND I’ll just brag on Brittany and Josh about it because they should get the credit for it. Their invitations are completely hand made, by them-even the pockets!

Here are a few shots from the wedding day:

Josh’s cuff links held photos of loved ones. This shot was taken by my assistant Jerry Scheller…(a.k.a “little” brother-I say “little” because he’s clearly taller than me)

This image below was also shot by Jerry. I liked the color, artistic motion and composition of it.img_5660-148blog

We got arrested for taking pictures after the ceremony.

JK. (yeah, I just typed ‘JK’ and I’m not changing it even if I get made fun of for still using it).  This was totally not staged; he just walked right up took their hands and cuffed ’em. :0) Fortunately, Josh actually knew the security guard at W&J and he was kind enough to remove the handcuffs and allow us in Old Main, which was great because Josh had the idea of using the totally awesome staircase for the image that follows. How many times can I use the word “totally?”

At some point I will be posting a gallery with the rest of Brittany’s DIYs from the reception.

Congratulations Brittany and Josh! Thanks so much for allowing me to be on the sidelines. Looking forward to hearing about all the new and exciting things to come in your new married life!

Heidi & Sean {Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer}

Putting up a few images for Heidi & Sean. I’ll be adding some more great shots later. Heidi & Sean were married on July 4th. As you can see, Heidi is sweet, genuine, and absolutely gorgeous. Sean is down to earth, genuine, and made a handsome groom. All those qualities = one great couple for me to get to be around and  photograph. 🙂 The wedding was classy, elgant, and fun (This wedding was very personal because I cheered with Heidi in High School and worked with her at a kids cheer camp for several summers). I will blog more pictures and words about this wedding, but I have to head to bed so I can get up in a couple hours.There are just so many neat things to describe about the day and pictures to share, hopefully these first few will be a nice first taste.

Today I’m going with my parents and brother, Jerry, to take him back to school. We’re leaving at 8am then tonight I have an Engagement shoot with Courtney & Travis in Bourbonnais, Illinois. I think we’re going to hit up the (beautiful) state park and maybe the driving range if there’s still enough light left. Saturday afternoon my parents and I will begin driving back. Super quick trip to drive all the way to Chicago and back in two days-wish we could be there longer, but I’ll be back for a visit when things slow down a little.  Enjoy the few image samples…

Bride&Groom Session Turns to Trash the Dress {Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer}

I photographed Jennifer & Dave wedding last October. Jennifer has given me quite a few wedding referrals since she booked me in 2007. I rely on “Word of Mouth” for almost all my business and I think it’s very important for me to say, “Thank You” to my clients with some type of reward.  This fun photo shoot was my way of saying “Thank You,”  and really, I think they just helped me out even more adding some great pictures to my portfolio. Jennifer and Dave are leaving the country in just a couple days for a new job and ventures together as Newlyweds. I’m so excited for them, but I’ll miss seeing them here and there for coffee, lunch, dinner, etc.  Special THANK YOU! to Jennifer for all her support and to both Jennifer & Dave for being such fun, willing, and spontaneous subjects! I’ll miss you lots, I’ll definitely be keeping you in my prayers, and will be sure to stay in touch.

So the shoot started out at Piper’s Pub on the South Side. Then we made our way to Oakland where we made stops at Schenley Park, Carnegie Mellon University, then the fountain across from The Cathedral of Learning. As you’ll see below, our Bride & Groom Session turned into a Trash the Dress (Kilt:) Session at the end. Enjoy!

Ashley & Chris: Married {Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer}

August 6, 2009

Hello friends!

Still keeping super busy and going non-stop. Today I’m posting some images from Ashley & Chris’s wedding. I don’t think I’ve EVER laughed so much at a wedding reception. Now, a little background: Ashley is a dancer by profession. Chris is um…self-proclaimed, right Ashley? 🙂 The irony of it all becomes clear once you see Chris begin to jive. Chris and his Dad busted moves I’ve never seen before and boy was it a riot! In all seriousness, I thought it was so neat how down to earth Ashley and Chris were/are. It is obvious how happy they are and how much fun they have together. Ashley & Chris, I had so much fun with the Engagement session, even more fun at the wedding, and I hope I’ll have to opportunity to do more photo shoots with you all in the future. You guys are tons of fun, so genuine, and down to earth and make for great company. I wish you all the best in your marriage. Love and Prayers, Dana (Enjoy a sampling of images)
